The emoticons are now being commonly used among chit chatters as you do not need a single buck or the effort to type long words to express what you wish to say. These free emoticons enable messenger users to portray their virtual facial expression to the other receiver. This is why these emoticons are gaining much popularity in the recent years, to the extent that they are also available in mobile text messages as well. The availability of the emoticons is also mushrooming with more and more websites that provide you with these emoticons with no monetary charges. Generally the emoticons come in a broad category of facial expressions that include happy, smile, angry, sad, hatred, love, you name it, and you have it.
Let’s look back into the history of these emoticons for free. The very initial emoticon introduced was the simplest smile “J”. It was used by Mr. Scott Fahlman in 1982. That time, he included this emoticon in a bulletin message to indicate that the message should not be taken seriously. At the same time he also integrated the use of “L” to imply the opposite. From there, the emoticons have grown to be very popular and gradually dominating the internet as well as gaining acceptance from service providers such as AOL, Yahoo and Microsoft.
Generally these free emoticons are nothing but made of simple graphics. It is the effect of these emoticons that serves to its fame. There are also some animated emoticons that display a reflection of human. They can jump, laugh, smile, shout or make strange faces. With the vast availability of emoticons in various online websites, it has become so convenient to voice out words too difficult to deliver such as sorry. Even sending birthday wishes to your friends are now more lively and exciting. Besides, those winking emoticons are just excellent to inject some naughty essence into your messages.
Apart from the commonly used “J” and “L”, there are many other emoticons for free to be used. In fact, they have different looks and characters in different countries. The Japanese emoticons are very different from the Indian and Western emoticons and vice versa. For instance, (^_^) is a classical smile emoticon in Japan, diverging much from the typical Western smiley. Besides, X8 means laughing hard, :-*) indicates that you are blushing and :-0 implies that you are shocked. As a whole, you do not have to pay to use these emoticons as they are available in the internet for free. But you can consider of hiring a graphic designer to invent new unique emoticons and that will cost you some money.
